Presenting this stunning Gianni Versace Spring/Summer 1991 Marilyn Monroe and James Dean pop art skirt suit! This collection was heavily influenced by Warhol’s use of iconography from American popular culture. The inspiration for this print reportedly came during one of Gianni’s trips to New York City. A version of our jacket can be seen on Look 88, worn by Marpessa Hennink on the Gianni Versace Spring/Summer 1991 runway. This iconic print was featured on other looks on the 1991 runway, in ad campaigns, and Donatella’s 2018 tribute collection.
The jacket and skirt were constructed in cotton with blue silk satin accents on the jacket. The button closures are accented with red rhinestones and gold metal.
