Vintage Design
This beautiful antique bridal chest dates from around 1850 and has an extremely decorative painting. This example comes from Austria and is a beautiful example of folk art from that time. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was subsequently placed on the farm in a stately room that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. All our bridal chests have been checked and, if necessary, restored, although the characteristic appearance of these cases has been retained. This box has some old repairs and has been completely treated against woodworm and provided with beeswax. A special detail is the repair at the rear, which was done with old tinwork, a repair probably made 80 years ago. The front is painted with churches and flowers, the rest of the box is painted with a wood grain motif. 68cm high, 131cm wide, 65cm deep.
