1930s Restored Antique Height Adjustable, Rolling Industrial Banker’s/Lawyer’s Office Chair

This chair has come far since it was acquired late last summer. When we first came across it, the top was separated, the paint was in very bad shape, and it had no wheels. The top piece was repaired and the rest of the chair was inspected for any damage, but there was none found. The only thing found to point out is the fact that the rubber piece that runs along the front is no longer present. The rubber deteriorates over time, and it is usually cracked and discolored, if it still exists. The paint was sanded to eliminate loose pieces, and it was repainted. The black is the same color as the original, but since the seat and backrest slats were worn down, so the wood was showing, these areas were painted a wood color. The brown came out looking very good, but some of the black gave us problems, and it did not come out perfect, but it is excellent looking compared to what we started with. We have spare pieces available for projects such as this, so the caster wheels were replaced with wooden ones that are in very good condition. Mechanically, the chair functions as it should, but the wheel under the seat facing outward moves very hard. It was moved to the center position, so it may not have to be used. The other wheels move freely and produce the desired results. The seat height, backrest tension, backrest height, roll and swivel actions all perform as they should and the chair is nice and solid and sits level on the floor.
